My Action Line
To save you re-reading all of the main posts here is a summarised list of the action taken together with links to the resources and materials used.
Step One
Needing a plan to work with and a proven business building system I opted for Lisa Diane’s 6MProfitMethod
Without a shadow of doubt this course, no it’s far more than a course, it’s a community bordering a lifestyle is the foundation for my success.
Step Two
I decided I needed to use WordPress as the platform for my new blog but knew little about it. I wanted to learn about Plug-Ins and Widgets and came across this great e-book Wordpress Adsense System written by Gobala Krishnan - a small investment for the book but with it comes a 7 Day Action Guide, Wordpress themes pack - Adsense optimised plus a pile of bonuses.
Step Three
Now for somewhere to host the blog. I’d created several sites in the past using different hosting companies. now getting costly at about $7-$8 pm each plus confusing with different logins and formats etc. Researched and found that using HostGator’s reseller package (but not reselling using all accounts for myself) I could host as many sites as I liked with a separate cPanels for each. In addition each domain can have a WordPress blog instantly installed using fantastico. So simple and much more cost effective once you have more than 3 or 4 sites to host. Great service by HostGator as well.
Bought Domain Names at GoDaddy using a discount voucher (go to Google and enter - Domain Name Coupons - find one for the supplier you are using) or try DNCoupons
To get my information on to my website / images on to the blog etc I needed a FTP program. I have been using the free version of Smart FTP for sometime and saw no reason to change.
Step Four
First test of a Squeeze Page or as Lisa calls it a Magnetizer Page. I wanted something with a little more punch and added a video (see the page here). I used Squeeze Videos for this but added my own Opt-In box created from some graphics I purchased at Copy & Paste Graphics.
The free report was obtained from Ewen Chia and the “back-end” product was also a Ewen Chia product I purchased some while back. Great cheap product for anyone starting out in internet marketing using affiliate products. I learnt much from the book and videos and feel totally happy promoting them. The idea here was to test the “system” ahead of my new business - still not revealed at this point.
Step Five
I’d previously read much about affiliate links - how they can be high-jacked; why those awful long meaningless links don’t get clicked and why link cloaking is essential for tracking purposes. I was already using Mike Filsaime’s Power Link Generator and decided that I would continue to do so for any 6M related project.
I also needed to make sure I could properly track my traffic and data and added Google Analytics - the free tracking program - to this blog. Learn much more by visiting the Google site.
